Meet Cordia

People often ask how Sunshine and Rayn Lemonade got its name.

The answer begins with my family.

In 2020, during the uncertainty of the pandemic, our family, like so many others, found ourselves spending nearly every moment together at home. What could have been a season defined by isolation became a season of connection, creativity, and discovery. Sunshine and Rayn Lemonade was inspired by three generations of love, learning, and encouragement: the joy of Sunshine, the growth of Rayn, and the wisdom of Mema.

SUNSHINE

 

My son Ayden was lovingly known as "Sunshine." It was the perfect nickname for him. He has always had a special way of brightening every room he enters and every life he touches. I remember visiting family overseas when a beloved aunt was struggling with depression and spending much of her time isolated in her room. Somehow, Ayden's joyful spirit and gentle presence encouraged her to come out, engage, smile, and reconnect with those around her. Even at a young age, he carried a light that drew people in.

Around that same time, his little sister Ayanna had earned a nickname of her own. Whenever Ayden proudly completed an elaborate LEGO creation, Ayanna would often appear moments later and accidentally, or sometimes intentionally, knock it down. After one too many collapsed masterpieces, Ayden began calling her "Rain" because she was always "raining on his parade." I eventually changed the spelling to RAYN, both as a playful twist and because both of their names begin with "AY." And just like that, Sunshine and Rayn became Sunshine & Rayn.

But the story would not be complete without my mother, affectionately known as Mema.

During those long months at home, Mema became one of our greatest sources of encouragement and inspiration. She filled our days with puzzles, creative challenges, thoughtful conversations, and gentle reminders to keep learning, exploring, and growing together. While the world felt uncertain, she helped create moments of joy, connection, curiosity, and hope within our home. 

 

Many of the values that define Sunshine and Rayn Lemonade today were strengthened through her love, wisdom, patience, and unwavering belief in us. She reminded us that some of life's most meaningful memories are created with the simplest things: a puzzle spread across the table, a shared laugh, an encouraging word, or time intentionally spent together. In many ways, the spirit of Sunshine and Rayn Lemonade was nurtured not only by Sunshine and Rayn, but also by Mema's example of creating connection, wonder, and joy wherever she is.

WHY LEMONADE ?

 

The lemonade came from another part of our family's story. During that season, we dreamt of creating a socially distant neighborhood lemonade stand. But over time, lemonade came to represent something far deeper than a simple business idea.
 

It became a mindset.
 

Our family has always tried to find the blessing in every challenge and the opportunity in every setback. No matter what life has handed us, we have worked to make lemonade from lemons. The pandemic taught us something priceless: how to slow down, be present, find beauty in ordinary days, and choose gratitude even during uncertain seasons.

 

FROM OUR HOME TO YOURS

 

What began as family crafts around the kitchen table, Mema's puzzles, backyard adventures, creative projects, and intentional moments together slowly became a way of life. We discovered that wonder didn't require expensive experiences or perfect circumstances. It lived in simple moments, shared laughter, curious questions, acts of kindness, faith-filled conversations, and meaningful connection. Over time, friends and family began joining us. What started within our own home expanded into a desire to serve other families seeking more connection, more creativity, more wonder, and a gentler way of growing.

 

A LIFESTYLE. A RHYTHM. A WAY OF GROWING

Today, Sunshine & Rayn Lemonade is more than a brand.

It is a lifestyle. A rhythm. A way of growing.

Born from our family's story, it has become an invitation for other families to slow down, embrace wonder, strengthen their connections, and discover beauty in everyday moments.

My hope is that every family who encounters Sunshine and Rayn Lemonade feels encouraged to create meaningful memories, nurture bright hearts, and discover the beauty already present in their everyday lives. Because some of life's sweetest lessons are found in the simplest moments.
